1. Make at least 5 simple symbol/icons
2. pick your best symbol/icon (make it perfect)
4. Open Illustrator and create a 8x8 or 8x10 document
5. File>Place your abstract photo and stretch it holding shift
6. Copy/Paste your symbol/icon from your page of roughs 
7. Repeat with your design until you have these three versions below:
